Vanaf vrijdag 7 februari laten de kleinste zangers hun grootste talenten zien in een nieuw seizoen van The Voice Kids. De concurrentie tussen Laura Tesoro, Gers Pardoel, K3 en Sean Dhondt laait meer dan ooit op, want de coaches kunnen elkaar dit jaar voor het eerst buitenspel zetten door elkaars stoel te blokkeren. De block-knop zorgt in de eerste Blind Auditions meteen voor heel wat animo. 

“Dit jaar hebben meer dan 2.000 kinderen zich ingeschreven voor The Voice Kids”, vertelt An Lemmens, die met de nodige peptalk klaarstaat voor de kandidaten en hun supporters. “Er is echt nog zó veel zangtalent in ons land dat zich eens op dat grote podium wil komen bewijzen voor de coaches.” Die coaches halen dan ook alles uit de kast om de strafste stemmen naar hun team te halen. Voor Gers is het zo klaar als een klontje: de opvolger van winnares Jade zit opnieuw in zijn team. “Ik ga dit jaar gewoon weer winnen, de rest kan inpakken en wegwezen.”

In de eerste Blind Auditions geven 11 kids het beste van zichzelf om een plekje in de Knock-Outs te verzilveren. De audities leveren meteen al enkele ‘vierdraaiers’ én staande ovaties van de coaches op. Coach Laura laat zich verrassen door “de mooiste versie ooit” van een nummer. Ook Buurtpolitie-agent Andy Peelman steelt de show, wanneer hij kandidate Luca mag verrassen met een ticket voor de Blind Auditions.

Dit zijn de talenten die in de eerste Blind Auditions hun kans wagen:

  • Max Atzmon (11, Edegem) zingt bijna elke dag en wil de coaches graag tonen wat hij in zijn mars heeft. Hij zingt Shallow van Lady Gaga en Bradley Cooper uit de film A Star is Born.
  • Caitlin Goossens (11, Meise) wil graag popzangeres of actrice worden, maar dan “zonder te kussen”. Ze doet auditie op How Will I Know van Whitney Houston.
  • Elisabeth Verlinden (12, De Pinte) waagt voor de 2de keer haar kans in The Voice Kids. Brengt de rode broek die oma voor haar maakte geluk? Elisabeth zingt Without Me van Halsey.
  • Rune Coppens (14, Haaltert) houdt van rockmuziek en volgt al sinds zijn 9de muziekles. Hij zingt een song van één van An Lemmens’ favoriete bands: Otherside van Red Hot Chili Peppers.
  • Tiany Michiels (13, Overijse) werd door haar mama stiekem ingeschreven en hoopt op een plekje in team Sean of team Laura. Ze waagt haar kans met een intieme versie van Creep van Radiohead.
  • Luca van Bogaert (14 jaar, Niel) is een echte shopping queen en wordt tijdens een uitstapje met haar mama bijna in de boeien geslagen door Buurtpolitie-agent Andy Peelman. Ze doet auditie op Always Remember Us This Way van Lady Gaga.
  • Liza Moens (13 jaar, Mortsel) staat in The Voice Kids voor het eerst op een groot podium. Ze probeert de coaches te overtuigen met een bijzondere versie van Billie Jean van Michael Jackson.
  • Naëma van Dijk (12 jaar, Ruiselede) komt uit een muzikale familie en zingt al zo lang ze kan lopen. Ze hoopt zich te bewijzen met Almost Is Never Enough van Ariana Grande.
  • Connor Casier (14 jaar, Bavikhove) werd 3 jaar geleden verkozen tot kinderburgemeester van Harelbeke en maakt deel uit van een popkoor. Hij doet vrijdag auditie op You Are The Reason van Calum Scott.
  • Aurelie Binnemans (11 jaar, Wijnegem) wil wel eens weten hoe ver ze geraakt in The Voice Kids. Ze doet mee voor het avontuur en gaat dat avontuur aan met Sucker van The Jonas Brothers.
  • Daan Vandenbruwaene (13 jaar, Orroir) doet al sinds zijn 4 jaar modellenwerk en is pas gelukkig als hij op een podium kan staan om mensen te entertainen. Dat doet hij met Feeling Good van Michael Bublé.
